Robert J. Eberhart

Robert J. Eberhart, 81 of Athens, Ga passed away peacefully on July 10, 2014 after a long battle with lymphoma. Robert was an avid Bulldawg fan and longtime supporter of the University of Georgia. He was instrumental in starting the first night school program at UGA in 1956. Following a successful career in the manufactured housing industry, Robert returned to UGA at age 76 and fulfilled his dream of graduating in 2009. Robert had a passion for gardening, fishing and story-telling. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Scarborough Eberhart and is survived by siblings Frank Eberhart of Athens and Carolyn Griggs of College Park, five daughters and three son-in-laws; Vicki & Dan Collins of Marietta, Sheila & Tim McClelland of Eatonton, Robin Eberhart of Atlanta, Michelle and Don Barton of Fairfield, CA and Angie Eberhart of Jacksonville, FL and 8 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West Chapel - 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road Watkinsville, GA 30622 with a reception immediately following.
