Robert Edward Dellinger

December 2, 1932 — March 30, 2015

On March 30, 2015, Robert Edward Dellinger, age 82, of Duluth passed peacefully into the arms of God's love with his loving wife Elke and her daughter Bettina by his side. Bobby is the son of the late David Frederick and Ada Belle Nettles Dellinger. In addition to his wife, "Bobby" is survived by his son Robert Jr., daughter Bettina, grandchildren Eric and Ashley by his late son Charles and his brothers Harry and Phil.
Bobby was born in Columbia, South Carolina and graduated from Berkley High School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He was inducted into the Berkley High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Bobby played varsity football at the University of Georgia in 1952 where he remains in the record books at UGA with a 76 yard touchdown run from scrimmage against Miami. His passion for the Bulldogs remained strong until his death.
Bobby was a retired USAF sergeant after 21 years of service. He then retired after 15 years as a Clarke County Correction Officer.
When we remember Bobby we will remember "charming", "warm hearted", "a gregarious laugh" and "a twinkle in his eyes". He never met a stranger. He will be missed.
Services will be held at Lord and Stephens East Chapel, 4355 Lexington Rd., Athens, GA 30605 on Monday, April 6th, 2015 at 11:00am. The interment will be at Oconee Hill Cemetery and a reception to follow at the Sexton House at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation to Peachtree Christian Hospice, Duluth or Temple Baptist Church Mission Fund, Athens.
