Robbie Gene "Shorty" Payne, 77, died December 3, 2009.
A native of Newton County, GA, he was a son of the late Arlow and Pauline Payne. He retired from Brown Transport after thirty-three years and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville with Revs. Ray Jenkins and Lamar Scarborough officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Maxey Payne, four children, Denise (Lamar) Scarborough of Bowling Green, KY, Randy (Jacki) Payne of Watkinsville, Teresa (Bryon) Gordon of Hull and Steven Payne of Hull; two brothers, Alvin Payne and Leon Payne; seven sisters, Betty Spect, Helen Westmoreland, Angela Ricks, Linda Moyers, Patricia Moody, Myrtle Owens and Dollie Payne; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
