Athens - R. L. (Bob) Dalton, 83, died June 14, 2006.
A native of Gainesville, GA, he was a son of the late Inez Pruitt and Doc Freeman Dalton. He was a veteran of the United States Air Corp. having served in World War II. He was the recipient of the Presidential Citation, Bronze Star, and many others. He was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where he was active in the Matthew Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda L. Dalton and two sisters, Johnnie D. McWaters and Dorothy D. Alford.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Doug Nix will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Bertie Mae Dalton; two daughters and son-in-law, Patsy D. and Jimmy Bledsoe of Covington, GA, and Sandy D. Cox of Marietta; three grandchildren, Kimberly Cox, Kelsey Cox, and Brandon Bledsoe; brother-in-law, Nathan McWaters of Athens; extended family at Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
