Richard "Ricky" Claude Williamson

1954 — 2023

Richard Claude Williamson, 69, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away peacefully on the evening of August 2, 2023 with family by his side.  He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Ricky was born April 30, 1954 in Mullins, South Carolina to the late Francis Hannibal Williamson and late Mary Elizabeth Smith Williamson.  His family later moved to Athens, Georgia where he then graduated from Athens High School in 1972.  As a child, he attended Central Baptist Church in Athens and referred to himself as a “Good ole country boy Baptist."

He is survived by brothers and a sister:  Francis H. Williamson (Jackie) of Athens, Georgia, Carolyn A. Williamson (Mara) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Sam C. Williamson (Robin) of Athens, Georgia, F. Allen Williamson (Deanna) and Ricky’s nephew Wesley A. Williamson of Hull, Georgia.  Ricky is also survived by Uncles, Aunts and numerous cousins.

His family fondly called him “Ricky Bass”, for he enjoyed fishing, but also played some golf.

Rick will be remembered by his family as a loving brother who joined in mischief, teasing and laughter with his siblings from childhood through adult life, memories of which bring smiles and chuckles.

Ricky was the first employee at the founding of Clarke County Lock & Key, Inc. in Athens in 1972, and later moved to Atlanta, became a Master Locksmith & Architectural Hardware Specialist, then became General Manager of Southeastern Architectural Hardware in Atlanta, Georgia.

In later years, whenever asked, Rick would also help at Clarke County Lock & Key, as well as at big brother Sam’s auctions, estate sales and other events.  Upon retirement, Rick provided locksmith work and expert home repairs for his friends and neighbors in the Stone Mountain and Tucker, Georgia area.

Family will celebrate his life and memory in private services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity of your choice in his memory.
