Athens - Rick Watson, 62, formerly of Jacksonville, IL, died Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, the 10th at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. David Heller officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim LeClair, Mark Maudsley, Charles Kubiak, Howard Crenshaw, Jim Papp and JR Hayden.
He was born Aug 15, 1946 in Pottsville, PA the son of the late William David Watson and Ruth Hanna Ney Watson. He married Joan Elizabeth TeVoert on Aug 29, 1981 in Jacksonville, IL.
He played many sports especially baseball through college and his military career. After the military he continued to enjoy playing golf and was an avid sports fan. Rick was employed by Passavant Area Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, IL and Ivinson Memorial Hospital of Laramie, WY as a manager of materials and central sterile. Rick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Veterans Organization, and served his country in the US Air Force Mobile Communications during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Elizabeth Watson; four children: Sean David (wife, Shannon) Watson of Jacksonville, IL, Casey Michael (wife, Teri) Watson of Crystal Lake, IL, JoBeth Marie (husband, David) Clark of Brownsburg, IN, and Alexia Lynn Watson (fiancé, Charles Kubiak) of Athens; one sister: Cheryl Louise (husband, Bob) Ware of Jacksonville, IL; and 2 grandchildren: Kathleen Elizabeth Watson and Aidan Finn Watson.
Visitation will be held Friday, the 9th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
