Richard Dale "Squirrel" Nails, 57, died February 23, 2010.
A native of Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Raymond Dale and Media Layton Nails and was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Lee Athey Sr.; and niece, Tammy Athey. He was an automobile mechanic and a veteran of the United States Army where he received the National Defense Medal. He was a member of Watkinsville First Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be Friday, February 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Watkinsville First Baptist Church with Rev. Carlos Sibley officiating.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Donald Struebing; nephews, Herbert Lee Athey and Herry Lee Athey, all of Gulfport, Miss.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, T. L. and Linda Turman and Lee Turman, all of Bogart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Watkinsville First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 1610 Simonton Bridge Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
