Richard Balte

Richard Allen Balte of Miami, FL, born January 17, 1937, passed away on January 15, 2016. He was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School (1955) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (IM 1959). He was an active member and lay leader at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, member of the Carroll County Community Chorus, and loved being a substitute teacher at schools in Carroll County. He was a "straight arrow" and his family and friends fondly remember his kind and generous heart and unending sense of humor. Indeed, "two-thirds of everything he said was true." He unceasingly reminded us, "be good to yourself." He was proceeded in death by his mother Lucile Balte and his father Harold Balte. He is survived by wife, Janice Balte; daughter, Elizabeth Balte; sons, Mark Balte, Richard (Rick) Balte, Matthew Balte, Joshua Bivins, Aaron (wife Katherine) Bivins; granddaughters, Julia Balte, Sara Balte, and Grace Balte; and sister, Gale Probst along with numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Camp Glisson (690 Camp Glisson Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533). A private service will be held at Camp Glisson.
