Bogart - Richard C. Axt, 82, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2005.
A native of Bloomfield, New Jersey, he lived in the Athens area for 10 years; he was the son of the late Robert Louis Morris and Mary Herrel Bach Axt. He was a retired Colonel in the US Air Force serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam Wars. During his service to his country, he received two distinguished metals for heroism; the Soldierís Metal and the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Air Force, he and his wife, Kitty, enjoyed owning Low Country Antiques and Collectibles in Summerville, SC for almost 20 years and attended Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville, SC.
Funeral services will be 3:00p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home WEST, with Rev. Ray Litz officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Dalton Axt; children and spouses, Linda Axt Heard (Lat) of Watkinsville, Richard C. Axt, Jr. (Jackie) of Estill Springs, TN; one sister, Betty Huff of Clearwater, FL; one brother and spouse, Kenneth Axt (Edith) of Woodstock, GA; three grandchildren, Richard Charles Axt, III, Lauren Taylor Axt and Anna Kate Heard and many nieces and nephews.
