Arnoldsville - Rev. G.C. McCurry, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
Born April 1, 1927, in Henrietta, N.C., he was the son of the late Lonnie and Bell McCurry. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He served 62 years in the ministry, preaching and teaching the Gospel around the world as an evangelist and missionary. He trained up countless sons and daughters in the Lord and was known by many as Apostle and Spiritual Father. He supported orphanages in the Philippines and other countries around the world. G.C. was currently the Pastor of Springs of Life Church and Teaching Center in Arnoldsville, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Tonya Duke McCurry; sons: Dale (Sonya) McCurry, Tim (Charmian) McCurry, Brandon (Hannah) Duke; brother: Paris McCurry; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11am at Lord & Stephens East Chapel. Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Fred Smotherman, Lamar Williams, Sammie Phillips, James Claxton, Greg Jennings and Joe Isola.
Flowers will be accepted.
