Raymie Martin, 79, of Jackson County, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2020. Raymie was born in Athens, Georgia to the late Fant Martin and Vada Martin Maddox. He was a retired fireman from Athens-Clarke County and retired long-haul truck driver from TH Evans and Select in Gainesville. He also worked as a shuttle driver for Heyward-Allen Toyota. Ronnie was a hardworking, honest man who loved telling stories about his experiences in life, and he loved his family very much.
Along with his parents, Raymie was preceded in death by his beloved son, Freddy Martin.
He is survived by his partner, Peggy Peters; son Joe Martin (Terri) of South Carolina and daughter-in-law Linda Martin of Madison County, Georgia; grandsons Chris Martin, Michael Martin, Joey Martin, Matthew Martin, and granddaughter Amanda Martin; six great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, and his beloved fur-baby, Ace.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home before the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
