Ray Carlton Pritchett Sr

Ray Carlton Pritchett, Sr, of Watkinsville and of North Kingstown Rhode Island, died April 22, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and prostate cancer.
Ray Pritchett was born September 3, 1934, in Oconee County, Georgia. He was the son of William L Pritchett and Gladys B. Pritchett who both predeceased him. He was a 1952 graduate of Oconee County High School at Watkinsville. He was married Blanche Poulin Pritchett in 1959. Blanche Pritchett died in 1997. Ray was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Collins.
He is survived by a son, Ray C. Pritchett, Jr, of North Kingstown, RI, a daughter, Linda Luz, and granddaughter, Shannon Burdette, both of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Betty Pritchett Dawson (Wendell) of Watkinsville, GA, and niece, Jennifer M. Dawson, of Marietta, GA.
Ray Pritchett made a career of US Navy, retiring in 1973. He graduated from Rhode Island College, and retired from Stanley-Bostitch, in North Kingstown, RI in 1996.
Ray visited his parents, sister and Georgia cousins on a regular basis over the decades. He would come for 2-4 weeks at a time and made an effort to visit his many relatives and friends at their homes. He enjoyed the annual barbecues, family reunions, birthday celebrations and other such events.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 26, 2013, at 11.00 am at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Reverends Mike Pritchett and Gary Pritchett will preside. Interment will follow at the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery, near his parents and late wife.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock PM.
