Athens - Ray Preston Argo Sr., 89, husband of Lula Alice Harrison Argo, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Family Life Enrichment Center.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel Church, Lexington, Ga., with Rev. Dan Fuller officiating.
Born November 17, 1920, in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late William Jasper and Hassie Couch Argo. He retired from Wilfong Brothers as a salesman after more than 30 years and was a member of Wesley Chapel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Jasper Argo; and brothers, Leslie Argo, Lloyd Argo, Talmadge Argo and Dorsey Argo.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include son and daughter-in-law, Ray Preston Argo Jr. and Peggy of Watkinsville; daughter-in-law, Kim Stowe Argo of Bogart; sister, Hannah Argo Smith of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. and Marsha Argo of Hillsborough, N.C., Eugene and Gerry Argo of Lexington, Pete and Betty Argo of Athens; grandchildren, Philip Argo of Crawford, Craig Argo of Highpoint, N.C., Alicea Argo Flanagan of Watkinsville and Scott Argo of Augusta; and ten great-grandchildren.
