Ila - Ralph Leon McCay, Sr., 93, husband of the late Doris Sewell McCay, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Pocataligo, GA, he was the son of the late Edward Lee and Nettie Burroughs McCay. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Rama Garrison, Effie Mae Prager, James Lee McCay and Bonnie Ruth Black. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, 1936 graduate of the University of Georgia, past President of Madison County Farm Bureau, Carroll County School Teacher, Candy Salesman, Farmer and Tax Appraiser in Madison, Jackson and Barrow Counties.
Survivors include his children: Barbara McCay of Ila, Ralph (Debbie) McCay, Jr. of Ila, James (Kathy) McCay of Ft. Lamar; brother: Dr. Myron S. McCay, Sr. of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren: LeAnn McCay (Zach) Kidd, Megan McCay, Jason McCay, Trey McCay, J.J. McCay and Daniel McCay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 3:30PM at Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church with Rev. Albert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Ila Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason McCay, Trey McCay, J.J. McCay, Daniel McCay, Zach Kidd and Steve Walker. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ila Cemetery Fund.
