Mr. Ralph Edward Maier, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on December 13, 2024. A burial at Andersonville National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Ralph was married to the love of his life, Bridgett Hall, for 50 years. Together, they raised two sons; Ezra and Jacque. Ralph greatly loved his sons, and was thrilled when his family grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ralph served his country during the Vietnam War as an electronic engineer. During his service, he serviced navigation systems on several planes, most notably the B-52 Stratofortress. After his time of service, he continued a 30 career in electronics. He was first employed by Marconi Avionics for 10 years where he continued to work on electronic systems for the Military's F-16 fighter jets then Glenayre for nearly 20 years.
Outside of work, Ralph had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He enjoyed reading about war history, his favorites being the Civil War and the two World Wars. He enjoyed sharing his love for history with his sons by taking them to different historic sites as they grew up. Ralph also greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to take his family on different camping and hiking trips, where they enjoyed time in nature together. Ralph also instilled a love of music in his children. An avid guitar player, his sons grew up listening to him make music and quickly learned their own instruments so they could play with their father.
Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Bridgett Maier; his son, Ezra Orian Maier; and many brothers and sisters.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
