Athens, GA - Ralph Clinton Bunn, 97, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in Athens, GA. Born April 5, 1912, at Swainsboro, GA, the son of John Wilson Bunn and Hattie Hall Bunn, he was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Martha Kelly White Bunn and one son, Homer S. White, Jr., of Augusta, GA.
He is survived by three children, J. Frank White, Forest Park, GA, Ellen White Nelson, Athens, GA, Dianne Bunn Byrd, Smiths, AL, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He served in the U. S. Navy as an electrician aboard the U.S.S. Marblehead CL-12 in the Atlantic during World War II and lived in Atlanta until 1985 when he and Martha moved to Athens. He was a long-time, active member of Mary Branan United Methodist Church in Atlanta and an active member of St. James United Methodist Church in Athens until 2002 when age-related problems limited regular attendance.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 16, at 3:00 pm at St. James United Methodist Church, 111 West Lake Drive, Athens, conducted by the Reverend Jerry Meredith with music provided by Carol Staton, Minister for Older Adults. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. James United Methodist Church.
