Rachel McCraw Thaxton

Rachel McCraw Thaxton, 82, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, SC she was the daughter of the late Blucher and Vada Jones McCraw. She was a homemaker, actively attended Briarwood Baptist Church and truly love her grandsons. She had a great love for her family and was know throughout Oconee County for her unique and giving spirit.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Thaxton, children: Barbara (Robert) Duncan of Bishop, Eddy (Beverly) Thaxton of Watkinsville, Bruce (Beth) Thaxton of Bishop; sister: Anita (Clint) Canaday of Taylorsville, NC; brother in law: Bill Thaxton of Colbert and four grandsons, Ben, Taylor , J.W. and Paul Thaxton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2PM at Briarwood Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Standard officiating. The family will receive friends two hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
