Rachel Norris

Athens, GA - Rachel Elizabeth Hammock Norris, 88, died January 8, 2014.
Born in Bostwick, she was the daughter of the late Tracey S. Hammock, Sr. and Minnie Lee Peppers Hammock and was the widow of Hurshel Lee Norris.
Mrs. Morris worked for the Athens Police Department for a number of years. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church where she taught preschool and was a member of the Open Hands Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her children, Van Norris and his fiance' Julie Mitchell of Hoschton, Judy Teasley and her husband Danny of Jefferson, Kathy Barrett and her husband David of Gainesville and Lori Daniel and her husband Derek of Bogart; grandchildren, DeAnna Hill and her husband Andy, Christina Bouknecht, David Barrett, Jr. and his wife Lori, Tim Daniel and his wife Virginia, Lindsey Daniel and Stephanie Lynn Norris, and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Baptist Church with Dr. Buddy Parrish officiating. Interment will be at Bostwick Cemetery.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
