Hull - Rachel Burt Jenkins, 102, wife of the late Dalton D. Jenkins, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Athens Heritage Nursing Home.
Born in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late Early Parks Burt and Maggie Mathews Burt. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by seven sisters and one brother. She was a member of Danielsville United Methodist Church. Rachel was a school teacher in Madison County and retired from Ila Elementary School.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Van and Sue Jenkins of Folsom, LA, daughter, Burt Jenkins Shepard of Hull, GA, sister, Sybil Burt Still of Kingsport, TN, grandchildren; Van D. Jenkins, Jr., Jennifer Jenkins Leddy, Julie Jenkins Authement, Mollie Shepard Neufeld, Stan Jenkins Shepard and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 11AM at Union Cemetery (off Highway 106) officiated by her nephews Rev. Ed Nelson and Rev. Ray Jenkins.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation
