Winterville - Rachel Faye Bates, 70, died May 19, 2005.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Odell and Annie Farr Christian.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Bates Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Valco Bates; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sue Bates of Athens; daughter, Elaine Johnson of Callahan, FL; sister, Mary Lunsford of Athens; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece, Carollette Burbage; two nephews, Donnie Ledford and Wayne Ledford.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home and may be reached at the Bates residence, 200 Shoal Creek Road, Winterville.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
