Bogart - Quincy Cleveland Posey, 86, husband of 67 years to Grace Moore Posey, died November 4, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Ted Tedder officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bob Hooie, Jack Ervin, Ron Young, Ben McElroy, Joe Maxey and Matt Bumgarner.
Born in Headland, Ala., he was the son of the late Quincy Cleveland and Flossie Vasti Posey. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the C-Bees during the Allies Island Hopping Campaign in the Central Pacific. Quincy spent most of his career in the heavy-construction equipment business, eventually owning his own business, PAL Equipment Company in Jacksonville, Fla. Following his retirement, he and his wife relocated to Bogart in 1983. He was a former mayor of Bogart and a deacon at Bogart First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Sandra Clark of Athens, Sue and Dan Griffin of Columbia, S.C., and Sarah and Don Newton of Apopka, Fla.; son, Lamar and Melissa Moore of Jupiter, Fla.; sisters, Carolyn Bellar of Denton, Texas, and Lou Ellen Lee of Mobile, Ala.; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bogart First Baptist Church.
