Pope Hoyt "Bud" Bryant Jr

Pope Hoyt "Bud" Bryant, Jr. of Lexington, Georgia went to be with the Lord on June 25, 2013. Born October 10, 1935 in Oglethorpe County he was the son of the late Pope Hoyt Bryant, Sr. and Daisy T. Bryant. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sisters: Sara West and Rita Minish; children: Ronald Lewis Bryant and Anita Karen Bryant; granddaughter: Faith Hope Coker and several nephews. Mr. Bryant is the husband of Martha J. "Jean" Shaw Bryant for 47 years. Mr. Bryant known as "Bud" or "Hoyt Jr." to all that knew him was the owner and operator of Bryant Enterprises and Camper Repair for 30+ years. He was an industrial machinist by trade. Before becoming a machinist he worked for the Athens Fire Dept. Mr. Bryant served in the Army, in the 101st Airborne, in Special Forces, in the Green Berets for six years during the Korean War. Bud also worked for a time with former country singer "Boxcar Willie" as driver for his memorabilia truck. Mr. Bryant was a member of Clouds Creek Baptist Church in Crawford, Georgia. Mr. Bryant was truly blessed during his life. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Jean Bryant; son's widow: Carol Bryant, Belvedere, South Carolina; sons: Terry (Linda Cowart) Bryant, Lexington, Georgia, Barry(Teresa) Gee, Arnoldsville, Georgia, Randall "Randy" (Elaine) Bryant, Winterville, Georgia; daughters: Rita (Darrell) Honea, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Deborah (David) Coker, Athens, Georgia, twenty six grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.Services will be at 11 a.m. at Clouds Creek Baptist Church, Crawford, Georgia, Friday, June 28, 2013. Burial will follow at Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery, Lexington, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the following: Clouds Creek Baptist Church or a charity of choice.Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
