Phyllis Virginia Martin Butler, 85, of Athens, passed away on January 14, 2025.
Born on September 9, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Lonie Martin and Golden Scarbrough Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Butler; brother, Randall Martin; sisters, Marie Lesley and Hazel Oldham.
Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Nixon (Johnny) and Michelle Harbert; grandchildren, Victoria Cooke (Cody), Anna Parr (Cody), Madison Grant, Ryan Grant; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Parr and a great-granddaughter on the way, Raelyn Cooke; sisters, Rachel Craft; brother, Oneil Martin and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis worked at the Athens-Clarke County Extension Office for more than 30 years as an administrative assistant. She was also a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church. Phyllis was loved by all that knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 1:30 to 3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, West. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
