Phyllis Jean Hymer, 74, died February 7, 2010.
A native of Owen County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Violet Donaldson Hancock and the widow of Elmer "Abe" Delane Hymer. She was also preceded in death by two children, Marleana Hymer and Larry Hymer; two sisters, Janice Lyons and Myra Fridley and one brother, Robert Hancock.
Mrs. Hymer worked with her husband in their construction and masonry business, was a homemaker and a chef at Southern Cross Restaurant. She was a member of various organizations including the Red Hat Society, Cooking Club, Arbor Day Society, Garden Club, Sassy Sisterhood of Colbert and the Magnolia Belles of Danielsville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, with Rev. Fuzzy Lakes officiating. Interment will be in Madison City Cemetery, Madison, GA.
Survivors include eight children, Danny (Susan) Kelley, Joey (April) Kelley, Connie (Lynn) Hassell, Carol (Gary) Bergman, Jimmy Hymer, Ginger Becklehimer, Cindy Thompson, Elaine Hymer; sister, Roberta Ball; brother, Arthur Hancock, Terry Hancock, Steve Hancock and Mike Hancock; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; pet, Molly; special penpal, Joyce Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison County Relay for Life.
