Phyllis M. Bogner, 85, loving wife, mother and grandmother died November 21, 2006.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan August 13, 1921, Mrs. Bogner received her degree in Speech Pathology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI and her Masters degree from Indiana University. She taught speech correction in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Indianapolis and South Bend, Indiana school systems and retired with 24 years of service from the Athens Clarke County, Georgia School System. In 1975, Mrs. Bogner received the Outstanding Teacher Award in Georgia from the Georgia Speech and Hearing Association.
Mrs. Bogner was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, serving on the School Board, Eucharist Minister to the sick, Church Development Committee and Bible Class Facilitator. She was twice President of the League of Women Voters and served on the State board, and delivered for the Council on Aging Meals on Wheels Program.
Survivors include her husband, Philip Bogner; daughters, Ms. Katheryn (Kathy) Ann Bogner of Atlanta, Ms. Margaret (Peggy) Gail Meyran and Miss Ruth Marie Bogner of Athens and son, Dr. William (Bill) Bogner of Atlanta; grandchildren, Alison Meyran Austin, Daniel Meyran, Amanda Cranmer and Philip Cranmer; sister, Joan McCarthy of Moline, IL and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00 AM. A rosary service will be at Lord and Stephens, EAST, Friday, November 24, at 6:30 PM followed by vistitation from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund.
