Nicholson, GA - Phillip Daniel Strickland, 38, passed away September 24, 2008.
A native of Fulton County, GA, he was a son of Joe and Linda Strickland of Danielsville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Melanie Strickland, brother, Kevin Strickland, and grandparents, Albert and Mary A. Wood and C. D. and Jene Strickland. He was employed with Silgan Closures for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Rev. Billy Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his fiancé, Karla Benoit of Nicholson; two stepchildren, Jordan and Faith Whiddon, both of Nicholson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Angela (James) Boree of Comer, Mary Ann (Greg) Smith of Warner Robins, Donna Strickland of Hull; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael (Lisa) Strickland of Crawford, Mark (Eve) Strickland of Arnoldsville, Jason (Tiffany) Strickland of Winterville; several nieces and nephews.
At age nineteen, Mr. Strickland received a heart transplant that allowed nineteen additional years with his family and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation for those who consider organ donation.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research or Lifelink of Georgia.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
