Philip Lathaniel Jones

Philip Lathaniel Jones, 96, died Friday, August 19, 2016. Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late James Doc Jones & Ada Huff Jones. Mr. Jones served in the US Navy during WWII and had been a member of Danielsville United Methodist Church for 59 years. He was a graduate of UGA and retired from the Danielsville Post Office. He was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Mattie Lou Thomason Jones and Ruby Gilbert Jones as well as 8 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his sons: Terry(Rita) Jones of Athens, Stan Jones of Danielsville and Gary (Angela) Jones of Athens; grandchildren, Todd, Kyle, Brian, Kevin and Stephen Jones and his Special Friend, Elise Hawkins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Danielsville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care, Danielsville United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
