Bogart - Philip A. Edwards, Sr., 70, died February 19, 2006.
A native of Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Raymond and Elsie Green Edwards, and was preceded in death by a brother, James B. Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Carlisle Military School in Bamburg, SC and the University of South Carolina. While a resident of New York, he retired from IBM after thirty-seven years of employment. He has lived in the Athens, GA area for the last ten years and was a member of Watkinsville First Methodist Church and Green Hills Country Club.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Beth LaRocca-Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce S. Edwards; daughter, Beverly L. Edwards of New York City, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Philip A. Edwards, Jr. and Ardis Thompson of Central Valley, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Jim Hicks of Cornelius, NC; sisters-in-law, Lou G. Edwards of Fairfax Station, VA, Mary McKinley of Unadilla, GA and Betty Maples of Pinehurst, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
