Peter Wilhelm Rajecki, age 67, passed away early Wednesday morning the 18th of May after suffering a massive heart attack late Tuesday night. He was rushed to Athens Regional Hospital but passed away shortly after arriving. He was born November 10th, 1948 in the coal-mining town of Gelsenkirchen, Germany. He was raised by his grandmother and never knew either of his parents. At the age of 16 was adopted by his aunt and her husband (a WWII Vet) and moved to their home in Marietta, Georgia. When he arrived in the US he could not read or write, or speak English but his heart was full of dreams and he had been given a chance to change his life. He attended Sprayberry HS in Marietta where he played football. He later played college football for the University of Georgia and went pro with the Pittsburg Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Peter was many things. He was a father of six, a husband, a German immigrant, a college and professional football player, an entrepreneur, and an Elvis impersonator, but one thing he was not was a man of few words. If you ever met him you would know that he loved people and was truly interested in hearing their stories and sharing his testimony with them. He was a passion filled man of God and told everyone he came into contact with about the love of Jesus. I think that this is how he would want to be remembered.
He is survived by his wife Claudia Siano Rajecki, her two children Carolina and Vitoria, his six children Heidi, Joseph, Faith, Mary, Elizabeth, David, and his eight grandchildren Madison, William, Jacob, Andrew, Halle, Kiley, Abigail, and Isaac.
