Peggy Elder (Sanders) Rice

Peggy Elder Rice, 84, wife of Eugene "Gene" Rice, died Friday, September 21, 2018. Born in Eastman, GA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Sanders and Pearl Blankenship Sanders Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Edgar Elder; son: Larry Elder and two brothers: Jack Sanders and Jimmy Sanders. Peggy retired from Oconee County Schools as a dietitian and was a member of Bishop Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her husband include; son and daughter in law: Tony and Cindy Elder of Watkinsville; daughter in law: Harriet Elder of Watkinsville: sister: Lucille Jennings; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Terry Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Elder Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Elder, Danny Elder, Shannon Elder, Pat Jennings, Robert Jennings, Daniel Jennings and Kenneth Rice. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
