Peggy Witcher Milton, 59, of Watkinsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
A lifelong resident of the Athens area, Peggy was born to the late Horace Walton Witcher and Mattie Mabe Witcher. Peggy sold real estate, drove school buses for Morgan County Schools, and worked for many years as a sheep venipuncturist collecting blood from sheep to create blood agar cultures for medical research. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Elberton and a member of the KELMAC Saddle Club. Peggy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but she was also a humble, quiet, and private person—but those she loved, she loved with everything she had. Her strong bond of faith in God helped her persevere through many years of illness.
Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Harvey Milton; an infant son, Thurston Lee Milton; three brothers: Sammy Witcher, Bruce Witcher, and James “Hot Shot” Witcher; and her sister/best friend, Joyce Peoples.
She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 4:00 p.m. at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home before the service. Interment will follow at Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery.
