Pauline Green "Polly" Short

Pauline Green Short, 79, lifelong resident of Athens, died Monday, October 12, 2015.

Affectionately known as Polly or Nanny Short, she was the daughter of the late Lam J. and Bessie Smith Green. She was of the Baptist faith. She retired after working for the Athens Clarke County Police Department and as a school crossing guard for over 37 years. Polly was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Rufus and Tom; and sisters, Zula, Mary, Mattie and Delia.

Survivors include her children, Dana (Patrick) Shannon, Randy (Terri) Short, Michael (Christine) Short; one sister, Lois (Raymond) Epps; eight grandchildren, Lacey Coffeen, Keri Sanders, Chassity Short, Mary-Morgan Logan, Colby Short, Teena Short, Tiffani Short and Danni Shannon; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at Lord and Stephens, East at 2:00 PM with Rev. Shane Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
