Pauline Bemis

October 2, 1947 — December 1, 2011

Athens - G. Pauline Bemis, age 64, of Athens, Georgia passed away unexpectedly, as the result of a car accident, December 1, 2011.
Pauline was born October 2, 1947 in Lamar, Missouri, a daughter of Henry and Opal (Waggoner) Kaderly. On August 7, 1965 she married Ronald L. Bemis. They lived in Altus, Oklahoma; Oslo, Norway; Marquette, Michigan; Lompoc, California; Columbia, Missouri; and Athens, Georgia. However, she always considered Jasper her home.
Pauline was a caretaker and devoted to her family and friends. She spent her life caring for others. First, she stayed home to care for her two children. Later, she provided loving care for her ailing husband, while also helping to care for her grandchild. However, her care extended well beyond her own family to numerous young children and aging friends. She was quick to decorate a cake, sew, knit, or cook for anyone in need. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her children; Jeffrey J. (Paula) Bemis of Anchorage, Alaska and Vicky M. (Chris) Wilkins of Athens, Georgia; her granddaughter Elizabeth "Bug" Wilkins; her sisters Fern (Kenneth) Davis, Susie (Larry) Howland, and Henry Etta (Bill) Howell; her brothers Jake (Kay) Kaderly and Rick (Pam) Kaderly; her stepmother Ethel Kaderly; her fiancé Ray Teaster and his family; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews; and many dear friends at East Athens Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Bemis in 2004; her sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Larry Rice; and brother-in-law Bobby Stevenson.
Funeral services and burial will be held in Jasper, Missouri on Wednesday, December 7th. A celebration of Pauline's life will be held Saturday, December 10th at 11:30 am at East Athens Baptist Church, Athens, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Salvation Army to benefit recovery efforts in Joplin, Missouri. Donations can be made online at https://secure20.salvationarmy.org/donation.jsp.
Lord and Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
