Paul Overton Woodworth, 74, husband of Emily Rebecca (Becky) Fambrough Woodworth, entered his heavenly home on December 11, 2020. Born in Tampa, FL, Paul lived all of his life in Oconee County. He was preceded in death by his parents; Willis Horace Woodworth and Sara Stovall Woodworth; brothers: Willis Horace “Bill” Woodworth, III and Rev. James W. “Jimmy” Woodworth.
Mr. Woodworth was a 1963 graduate of Oconee County High School and attended UGA and Athens Tech. Paul retired from Golden Pantry Food Stores as Vice President and CFO and following retirement he worked on his farm raising cattle. He was a lifelong member of Antioch Christian Church where he was very involved as an Elder Americus and member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He also was a member of various clubs that included: Rotary, Civitan, Jaycees and founding member of the Athens Area Computer Users Association. Mr. Woodworth also served on the Board of Directors at Walton EMC for several years. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, woodworking, traveling with friends and the Antioch Christian Church Travel Club and other groups, but most of all, he loved spending time with his beloved wife of 54 years. He was happiest when his house was full of family and friends sharing a meal.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two children: Tim Woodworth (Jill and Zach Bolding) and Paula Woodworth (Dirk) Bargfrede; sister: Sara Jane Burgess; six grandchildren: Tyler (Janie Gray), Ryan (Cassie), Bailey and Kendall Rose Woodworth, Spencer and Jenna Lynn Bargfrede: one great grandson: Griffin Woodworth and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for immediate family only will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 2PM at Antioch Christian Church Cemetery. Friends are respectfully asked to remain in their vehicles in the parking area in front of the church at 1:45 to show their support as the family is escorted from their residence.
Honorary Pallbearers include: David Hayes, David Williams, Wayne Marable, Wayne Shelton and Terry Roach.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church, Youth Fund.
