Paul Alan Thomas

Paul A. Thomas, age 58, died on April 3, 2016, in Watkinsville, GA.
Paul is survived by his wife, Judy Shelton of Watkinsville, GA; his son, Travis Thomas and daughter-in-law, Katie Thomas of Layton, UT; his daughter Amber Miller and son-in-law Taroh Miller of Spring Hill, TN and his grandchildren, Lily, Masa and Kan Miller of Spring Hill, TN; parents, Daniel and Cecile Thomas of Huntsville, AL; sister Diane Barefield and brother-in-law Mark of Huntsville, AL; brother Richard Thomas of Laurens, SC; nephews Ryan and Patrick Barefield and niece Shannon Barefield of Huntsville, AL.
Paul was born in 1958 in Bainbridge, Maryland. Paul proudly served in the Alabama Air National Guard and later went on to receive his degree in accounting from Auburn University at Montgomery. Paul was a successful accountant and was the President and Owner of Paul A. Thomas, CPA PC for more than 25 years.
Paul was a great family man and a loving father and attended church at Grace Fellowship in Watkinsville with his wife. He especially enjoyed his Sunday School class each week and the special people in that class. Paul was extremely proud of his son Travis commitment to the Air Force and his tours of duty in Afghanistan.
Paul was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the planning of the AthFest Music & Arts Festival in Athens, GA for nearly 15 years. Paul was also a dedicated and valued board member of AtheFest Educates and the Franklin Grove Condo Association. He greatly enjoyed gardening and working in the yard and always had a yard project going. His family and friends will always remember him as a devoted and passionate person who was always ready to tell a joke and make those around him laugh.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, April 8 at the Athens Botanical Gardens in the Gardenside Room at 3PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 2PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul's life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to AthFest Educates, P.O.
