Patrick "Pat" Weaver Wynne, Jr., 87, died February 8, 2010.
Born in Athens, GA, Mr. Wynne was a lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene Smith and Patrick Weaver Wynne, Sr., his daughter, Betsy Wynne and sister, Helen Cunningham of Smyrna.
Mr. Wynne was a lifelong farmer and a veteran of the United States Army with service during World War II. While living in Stephens, he attended Antioch Baptist Church and then, after moving to Rayle, became a member of Lexington Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Mr. Wynne was a devoted member of Gideon's International.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Lexington Baptist Church with Revs. Harry Warren and Don Leaptrott officiating. Interment will be in Thaxton-Wynne Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Betty V. Wynne; children, Patrice (Joseph) Goletz of Summerville, SC, Beverly (Jerry) Nation of Crawford and Susan (Doug) Houser of Rayle; grandchildren, Shawn (Katherine) Goletz of Tallahassee, FL, Penni (Tim) Stoudenmire of Maxeys, Jerrilynn (Rusty) Gabriel of Winterville, Jonathan "J. B." Nation of Crawford, Taylor Houser and McCall Houser, both of Rayle; five great grandchildren; five nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Thaxton, Tommy Thaxton, Edwin Sayer, Jason Thaxton, Roger Nesmith and Jimmy Germany.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
