Goody grew up in Erwin and graduated from Erwin High School in 1951. She married Lloyd "Peanut" Whitman, October 19, 1952. Their only child, Kim was born in July of 1959. They moved frequently with his work until settling at White Lake in the early 1960's. Many wonderful friends were made there. In 1968 they built a house and moved to Wilmington in the Pine Valley subdivision. With their neighbors they socialized, danced, steamed oysters, and had pig pickin's. Peanut died suddenly in 1984 and Goody moved back to her hometown of Erwin. Family was always important to her and she was blessed to have two grandsons whom she adored. They were the love of her life in her later years. In 2014, as her health declined she moved to Georgia to live with her daughter and her family. They were blessed to have the time together. Kim and Bob were by her side as she was peacefully gathered into the arms of her Savior. Her faith, kindness, and goodness shone especially bright during her last years.
