Patricia Joan Sturm Stauffer, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away June 10, 2022, at the age of 91.
A native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of John Edwin Sturm and Mabel Marshall Sturm in West Virginia. Patricia lived in Athens since 1967 and retired as business manager of the Athens Regional Library.
Affectionately called Patty Jo by her family and friends, she loved eating out with friends, playing with dogs, visiting Walt Disney World, and listening to Nat King Cole. She collected Mickey Mouse items, and singing and hearing the Mickey Mouse song made her smile right until the very end of her life. She was known for her kindness to others, her sense of humor, and her beautiful smile.
Patricia was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn C. Mitchell, and her second husband, Artie John Stauffer. She leaves two daughters, Pamela Ann Stauffer Parks (Steve) and Barbara Jean Stauffer Wommack (Marty), and two sons, John Lee Mitchell and James Thomas Mitchell, as well as grandchildren Randall (Lindsay) Parks, Rebecca (Colt) Facer, Natalie (Wade) Martin, Christopher (Abby) Parks, Stephen, JP, Chris, and Kate Mitchell. She also will be missed by her seven great-grandchildren, Mason Lee, Mathew, and Maximus Martin, and Asher, Zachary, Conley, and Wilson Parks.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12th from 4-6 pm at Lord and Stephens East, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, June 13th at 11:00 am, also at Lord and Stephens East in Athens.
