Colbert - Patricia Gail Lacy Scogin, "Pat," departed this world at 8:35 p.m. on June 8, 2011. This Earth was graced with her presence for 63 years. She loved her family and her friends with a passion rarely witnessed. She loved life but was unafraid to let it go. While she was here she loved, she worked, she played, and she befriended many, many people. She loved Jesus--her Saviour and her hero, her husband, her children, and her friends, in that order. She prayed for her enemies. She loved daffodils and shade trees and hot, sunny beaches, Pepsi Cola and hot dogs, and she loved babies. She loved puppies and kittens. She loved all helpless things, and tried her best to nourish them. This Earth is diminished with her passing. All who knew her can testify to this.
Pat was born on December 7, 1947, in Toccoa. She attended Elbert County Schools. She was retired from Rafinnatti Men's Apparel Group, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Lacy; stepfather, Thomas Eugene Borders; and sister-in-law, Hilda Faye Scogin Smith. Survivors in addition to her spouse, Bruce W. Scogin, include her mother, Ida Mae Borders; mother-in-law, Ladys Haley Scogin; children, Larry (Sandra) Tiller, Clint (Tammy) Tiller, Trent Tiller, Angie (Michael) Embry, and Milissa (Richard) Hatfield; grandchildren, Lisa Farlow, Branson McDonald, Steven, Hunter, Kayla, Joshua, Ethan, and Victoria Tiller, Kendra and Karissa Embry, Andrea Hatfield, Brianna Coile, and Ellison Hatfield; great-grandchildren, Cody White, Ashley Gollhuir, Caelon and Caitlin McDonald, Cole Hix, and Emma-Grace Duncan; great-great-grandchild, Lexxi Gollhuir; brothers, Bobby (Hazel) Forrester, David (Doris) Lacy, and George (Gloria) Lacy; and sisters-in-law, Debra Scogin Smith, Lynn (Gary) Scogin Smith, and Connie (Steven) Scogin Roth.
