Patricia W. Moore

Joan Patricia Moore, 91, passed away peacefully on October 27th after a brief time in hospice care.

Pat (Withers) was born on July 14, 1932, in Gastonia, NC. Her parents owned a small grocery store and were remembered for their devotion to helping others during the Depression. Pat graduated from Gardner-Webb College in 1952, and married Carroll Moore of Gastonia in 1953. They were married for 58 years, until his passing in 2011. They enjoyed traveling throughout the world, their many vacations on the Carolina coast, and their years in Shelby, NC. She played the piano beautifully if you twisted her arm, and enjoyed attending the Charlotte Symphony, gardening, reading, and any opportunity to walk on a beach at sunrise.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters Beth Kirkland and Myra Moore, her son Carroll Moore Jr. (Jan Newberry), her grandchildren Scott Kirkland (Stephanie Kirkland), Henry Moore and Emilia Alvi, her great-grandchild Aiden Kirkland, her sister-in-law Shirley Eaton, and her extended family and dear friends.

Services and interment at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation at arborday.org
