Pat Bourne

Lexington, GA

Patricia Irene Bourne, affectionately known as Pat, passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on July 12, 1954, in Athens, Georgia, Pat was the cherished daughter of the late Nell Kirkland Bourne and Donald Russell Bourne.

Throughout her life, Pat's journey took her from her hometown in Athens to various locations, thanks to her father's career with Georgia Power, which brought the family to Winder, Lawrenceville, and Greene County. Pat was proud to be a graduate of Greene County High School, finishing her studies with the class of 1972. In 1974, she embarked on the journey of marriage, welcoming her beloved daughter, Nikki, into the world in 1976.

Following her divorce, Pat found her professional footing at the Greene County Police Department. However, her passions led her to further her education; she attended Young Harris College before transferring to Abraham Baldwin College, where she excelled academically, making the Dean's List and graduating with Honors in Veterinary Science. After completing her studies, Pat applied her skills as a Vet Tech/Receptionist for Dr. Brubaker in Lexington.

In 1993, Pat moved to Rabun County to be closer to her parents, later returning to Oglethorpe County, where she dedicated herself to raising Coon Hounds, Australian Shepherds, and Border Collies. Her work ethic also landed her a position at Walmart in Athens, where she contributed for several years until her retirement due to medical reasons.

Pat is survived by her loving daughter, Nikki Tolbert, and granddaughter, Caitlin Leach, both residents of Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by her brothers, David Bourne (Sharon) of Watkinsville, and Richard Bourne (Anne) of Thomson, Georgia, along with a number of nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Bourne.

Memorial services to honor Pat will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Johnson United Methodist Church in Watkinsville, with Rev. Richard Hoard officiating.

The family invites all who knew and loved Pat to join them in celebrating her life and the many ways she touched those around her. Arrangements are entrusted to Lord and Stephens, EAST.
