Patricia Anne McCarthy Noles peacefully departed this world en route to the Kingdom of Heaven while sleeping peacefully in the early morning hours of January 28, 2025. She was 92 years young.
Patricia, “Patti” was born in Orange, New Jersey to Edwin and Bridget McCarthy. She was raised in Belmar, New Jersey and attended St. Rose Catholic School until her entry into the freshman class at the University of Florida, where she met the love of her life, Richard Kenneth Noles. The couple married on December 26, 1953. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Patti was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her world was her family. She never forgot a birthday and made each one special. Spending holidays with her family was her greatest joy. She had a great sense of humor and an extraordinary memory for names. She never met a stranger and showed a genuine interest in everyone she met. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia.
In addition to her family, Patti’s life revolved around the Saint Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a devoted volunteer for over 50 years, logging in over 7000 hours to the hospital in various capacities. When the children were young, Richard hired a maid for a half-day each week for Patti to have a few days away from four busy young kids. Instead of using this time for herself, Patti spent these hours volunteering at St. Mary’s. She served as chairperson of the information desk, but her true devotion was her position as New Volunteer Coordinator, which she held for many, many years. Her warm sociable personality made her a natural for this job, as she was the welcoming face to the Auxiliary. She hosted every new member and made them feel as welcome as family.
Patti is survived by her husband, Richard Kenneth Noles; her four children, Stephanie Middleton (George), Cindy Johnson (Todd), Steve Noles (Jamie), and Patrice Chauret (Mark); six grandchildren, Amanda Herritt (Kevin), Kimberly Meraz (Isaac), Benjamin Johnson, Elsa Connally (Brandon), Blake Noles (Susie), Lauren Sheldon (John), Nick Chauret (Sydney) and Clay Chauret (Regan). She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
