Watkinsville - OJoy Oaks Mays, 75, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at her residence.
Born and raised in Tuscumbia, AL, she was the daughter of the late Grady A. and Willie Sherrill Oaks. She retired from South Jackson Elementary School after more than 25 years of teaching. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday School. OJoy was also a member of the Road Runners Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Colonial Dames.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Roy Sisiam of Donalds, SC; son, Asa R. (Trey) Phillips, III of Marietta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sallie Oaks of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Joseph Sisiam, David Sisiam and Kendall Phillips; nephew, David Bowden (Bo) Oaks of Wilmington, NC.
A graveside service was held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mars Hill Baptist Church.
