Odell Tucker Hollis

March 31, 1952 — January 2, 2025

Odell Tucker Hollis, 72, beloved husband of 48 years to Annie Hollis, died on January 2, 2025. Born in Athens, GA, he was the son of the late Odell Hollis and Hazel Strickland Hollis. Odell grew up in Athens attending Clarke County Schools, and enlisted in the US Marine Corps, where he proudly served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from war, and exiting the Marines, he attended Athens Technical College and became a mechanic- and had a lifetime passion of meticulously maintaining vehicles. He worked and retired from the Clarke County School District as a mechanic after 20 years. After his retirement he continued to work in several positions, as it was never in his nature to slow down and he loved to have the opportunity to talk to people and stay busy. Odell was an avid fisherman- he learned to love fishing from an early age and enjoyed the sense of calm and patience involved in the sport. He also had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was the proud owner of many bikes over the years. He rode his motorcycle as often as he could, even using it for commuting to work. Odell was an active member of Colbert First Baptist Church, and for many years volunteered in children’s ministry teaching Sunday School classes alongside his wife, Annie. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Tessa and Douglas Barbazon (Trey) of Watkinsville, GA, and Tiffany and Michael Pressler of Lilburn, GA; sister and brother in law: Betty and Stan Lee, mother in law: Deloris Skalisky, brother in law: Mike Skalisky, sisters in law: Dora Skalisky and Sue Fisher, along with many cousins and nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his four grandsons that were his pride and joy. His favorite role of all was that of “Papa” to Jasper and Guy Pressler, and Buck and Brooks Barbazon. A celebration of Odell’s life will be held on January 17, 2025 at 11:30 am at Colbert First Baptist Church with Pastor Blaine Seagraves officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service and a reception will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the City of Refuge Ministry that supports programs that provide food support to children in Madison and Clarke Counties (City of Refuge Ministry). Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
