Obie C. Burt, Jr., 81, died October 10, 2009.
A native of South Carolina, he was a son of the late Clyde Melton and Obie C. Burt, Sr. and was the widower of Ruth Ford Burt. Mr. Burt was retired from Seaboard Railroad and a member for over fifty years of East Athens Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 3:30 PM at Athens Memory Gardens with Rev. Joe Wood of Riverside Baptist Church officiating.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Lori (Randy) McElhannon of Lexington and Nancy B. Autry of Crawford; sister, Lucille Moore; brother, Sam Burt, both of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Nicole McElhannon, Cliff McElhannon, Brandon Autry and Brandy Autry; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oglethorpe County Primary School Relay for Life Team, 300 Comer Road, Lexington, GA 30648.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
