Norma Irene Shirah died Friday, December 27, 2013.
Norma was the only child of Charlie and Ruth Williams and grew up at Pine Crest Lodge. She graduated from Athens High School in 1965 and attended Young Harris College where she met her husband of forty-seven years. Norma was a loyal wife supporting her husband's twenty-five year Army career.
She is survived by her husband Colonel Henry Shirah, Ret.; sons, Major Jason Shirah, USAF; Byron Shirah and Benjamin Shirah. Known for her generosity and concern for others, she is greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Dr. Paul W. Downey officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Samaritan's Purse or Salvation Army.
