Norma Snow Craddock of Arnoldsville, born May 7, 1938, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2025 after a brief illness. She graduated from Tri City High School in Leaksville, NC in 1956. Shortly thereafter, a US Navy Corpsman on leave, Robert ‘Mike” Craddock, walked into her parent’s grocery and the rest became history. The Navy brought them to Athens, Ga in 1961 where they would remain. Mrs. Craddock worked as an accountant at the University of Georgia for 44 years, starting with the Alumni Society and then moving to the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Chemistry Department and finally retiring from the Physics Department.
Mrs. Craddock had a great love for both her immediate and her extended family and was committed to the community where she served for many years as the treasurer of the Volunteer Fire Department of Arnoldsville and as a City Council member in Arnoldsville. She was a faithful attendee at her church, Alps Road Presbyterian in Athens. She was a humble and hardworking lady who placed her family above all other things but always made time for church and community.
Mrs. Craddock is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fleming Craddock, Sr, granddaughter Madeline Craddock, elder sister Anna Lee Snow, and an elder brother, Aaron William Snow. She is survived by her three sons; Robert (Marcelle), Edward (Kathryn), and Mark (Catherine); daughter Catherine C. Cassidy; granddaughters Catherine (Jason Trapanese) Craddock, Emily Craddock, and Alexandra (Artur Blasi Bosch) Craddock; great-granddaughter Makayla (Hunter) Mortimer, and elder brother Raymond Snow.
A private graveside burial will be held for the family. A memorial service for all of Mrs. Craddock’s family, friends, and community will be held at 2PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Alps Road Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Volunteer Fire Department of Arnoldsville, the Athens YMCA or Alps Road Presbyterian Church in Athens.
