Nicholas Watsik, 99, of Watkinsville, GA, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. Born on December 9, 1921, he was the son of the late Alex Watsik and Eva Nazaryk Watsik.
Nicholas was a WWII Veteran serving as a Private First Class in the United States Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Landed in France 13 days after D Day. He worked for IT&T as an Electronics Technician testing equipment for the U.S. Department of Defense. He retired from IT&T after 30 years of service. Nicholas enjoyed gardening, going on cruises, playing Bocci and spending time with his grandchildren. He was member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bessie, Ana, Helen, Justine, Jean, and Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jule Ann Watsik; children, Karen Kimbaris (Dean), Nicholas James Watsik (Anne Marie); grandchildren, Alex Watsik, Claire Watsik, James Kimbaris (Grace); great grandchildren, Taylor Kimbaris, Austin Kimbaris; nieces & nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church, 3761 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677. Family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church.
