Mrs. Nellie G. Compton, 91, went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2010. Mrs. Compton was born in Oglethorpe County to the Late Robert O. and Fannie Lou Grimes. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Grady H. Compton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Martha G. Adkins and Sara G. Brooks, and her brothers, Jake Grimes, George Grimes, Paul Grimes, Everett Grimes, and Mike Grimes.
She enjoyed spending her time with her family, quilting, reading, sewing, cooking and going to church. She attended church at Center Methodist Church in Stephens for a number of years, as well as Edwards Baptist Church in Crawford. She is survived by her daughter, Lila Mae Watson, and beloved son-in-law, Kenneth. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Kim (Richard) Biever, Ken (Lauren) Watson, and Kelli (Norman) Coletti, and her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Erin Biever, Mary Grace Watson, Keaton, Katherine, and Mia Coletti. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Center Methodist Church in Stephens with Rev. Jamie L. Doster officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Watson, Norman Coletti, Richard Biever, Sam Brooks, Jule Grimes, Keith Holloman, and Rodney Epps.
Visitation will be held at Lord and Stephens, East, December 3, 2010 from 6-8 P.M.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East Chapel.
