Nelda S. Taylor of Athens, Ga. went to her heavenly home on August 2, 2019.
Born November 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Walter Sears and the late Eva Vickery Sears Hooper. She was the widow of Dr. Jack H. Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by sister, Mary S. Payne and brother, William V. Sears. She is survived by sisters Joyce Minor, Athens; Linda Pryor, Savannah; Doris Lewis (Ron) Athens; and brother Alvin Hooper (Faye) Warner Robbins and 3 generations of nephews and nieces.
She was a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church, the Bertha Hancock Circle and United Methodist Women. As a member of the American Red Cross Unit at Athens Regional Medical Center she served faithfully for 25 years. For many years she enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, caring for family members and was an avid bridge player. She will be remembered for her faith in God, her devotion to family and her love for life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Donnie Payne, Wesley Hooper, John Pryor, Chris Butts, Jeff Brown and Lamar Paris.
The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided for many years by Polly Echols and Sophia Minaya, Missy Parker and the Talmadge Terrace Plaza Personal Care staff. Special thanks also to Jasmin Martinez, Sandy Allen, Esther Dagan, Lorna Gains, Mae Quillian and Kindred Hospice.
